Profile

Zulay Giménez is an Assistant Professor at the School of Civil Construction, Faculty of Engineering, Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. She combines more than 25 years of academic, professional, and research experience in construction management, project delivery, and value generation in the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry. She holds a Ph.D. in Engineering Sciences from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, a Master’s degree in Construction Management from Universidad Centroccidental Lisandro Alvarado (Venezuela), and a degree in Architecture from Universidad de Los Andes (Venezuela). Her research focuses on value generation in construction projects through Lean Construction, Lean Design, Target Value Delivery (TVD), Building Information Modeling (BIM), constructability, and collaborative project delivery approaches. She is the creator of the Value Analysis Model (VAM), a methodology developed to assess value generation in construction projects and support value-driven decision-making throughout design and construction processes. She is currently the Principal Investigator of the Fondecyt Initiation Project “Strategic Pathways for the Adoption of Target Value Delivery in Chilean High-Rise Construction Projects: Overcoming Barriers and Enabling Value-Driven Design” and the FONDEF IDeA I+D 2026 project “Integrated Platform for Sustainable Value Management in the Real Estate Industry through the Value Analysis Model (VAM)”. Her research also addresses BIM maturity, lean management, innovation, Respect for People, age-friendly housing, and digital transformation in construction.
