Profile

Dr. Eduardo J. Rueda is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil Construction at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. He received his B.Sc. degree in Civil Engineering from Universidad Industrial de Santander (Colombia) and his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees from Universidad de los Andes (Colombia). Following the completion of his doctoral studies, he held a postdoctoral position at Universidad de los Andes, where he contributed to research project management, proposal development, and teaching in pavement engineering.

His research focuses on pavement engineering, asphalt materials, and the experimental characterization of road construction materials across multiple scales. His work integrates chemical, rheological, mechanical, and performance-based analyses to better understand the behavior and durability of asphalt binders, mastics, and mixtures.

Dr. Rueda’s current research is centered on the development of sustainable pavement technologies through the incorporation of bio-based additives and industrial by-products, including lignin and grape pomace, as modifiers for asphalt binders. His research seeks to improve pavement performance and durability while reducing the environmental impact of transportation infrastructure.
